What I hope to achieve with this project?

The planet currently faces a climate crisis, where everyone needs to make an input. This opportunity presents me with the chance to come up with innovative proposals alongside my fellow Napier colleagues, which could make an impact on the current operations of SGN. While allowing me the chance to gain a first-hand perspective of how the university theory transpires over to the project and really make a difference in a community.

What am I studying?

What I hope to achieve with this project?
​
I am passionate about learning ways to help tackle the Climate Crisis and I try to live as sustainably as I can on an individual level; but there’s only so much we can do by ourselves. With a monopoly on the Gas Network across Scotland and very few energy alternatives, there is little that individuals can do to fight against the use of fossil fuels when its integrated so complexly into society and our everyday. I thought it would be incredibly interesting to work with and learn about the ‘behind-the-scenes’ of a company that may to be the opposite to my personal values, to delve into and understand what the biggest corporate contributors to carbon emissions are doing to try and make the future green. I hope to achieve a clearer picture of this and create a bold project proposal to help SGN reach their Carbon Net Zero Pledge as soon as possible.

What am I studying?

What I hope to achieve with this project?
​
I want to be involved in the development of solutions whilst learning more about an issue which I hope will be at the forefront of my career after university. I believe this is a great opportunity to work with like-minded students from other disciplines. I think that developing and presenting ideas to those who do not have a background in design will allow me to improve as a designer and will ultimately enable our team to create a more informed and successful proposal.

Through this project I hope to gain a more thorough understanding of the practicalities of environmental redevelopment, which coincides with my field of study. I hope to work creatively with the team to find an innovative multi-benefit solution for our site.
